Kimi ni Todoke

Genre: Romantic comedy
Score: Excellent

Sawako is creepy. People jump when she says good morning, shudder as she walks past and tell stories about people who offended her then fell ill. But she’s really just a lonely girl who keeps trying her hardest. She wishes she were more like Kazehaya, the nice guy who brings people together, takes an interest in people, and is generally popular.

This sweet little series, more romance than comedy, stands above the norm for its genre by truly developing the characters. They’re incredibly likeable, even in their mistakes and stupid moments. You don’t have to be a fan of romance to like this series.
